1. APPLY ONLINE: DEADLINE FEBRUARY 22, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT – NO LATE APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED – NO EXCEPTIONS
Submit your online application by February 22, 2025. The application includes essay questions which you must answer as part of the application. You may wish to answer the questions on a separate document and then cut and paste your answers into the online application.

2. ESSAY QUESTIONS
Please respond to each of the following essay questions. 250 word maximum for each question.
- Discuss what subjects interest you most, your current academic path, and your career plans. How might SEES affect these plans?
- Please respond to Option A or Option B
- Option A: Discuss your important academic experiences in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) such as courses, formal science fairs, school-sponsored competitions, etc.
- Option B: Discuss important life experiences in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) that you or others engage in outside of school, such as using the scientific process in cooking, caring for animals, and exploring nature; developing video games and computer codes; hobby astronomy, mathematics clubs, or competitive robotics, or making, tinkering, repairing, and crafting.
- What skills have you learned from your extracurricular activities that will be valuable to you as a research team member?
- How did you hear about the SEES Internship Program? Have you participated in similar STEM enrichment programs or opportunities or is there a lack of STEM opportunities in your area?
- My participation in SEES depends on my receiving a travel scholarship.

3. RECOMMENDATION: DEADLINE MARCH 1, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT – NO LATE RECOMMENDATIONS ACCEPTED – NO EXCEPTIONS
You must include the name and email address of a teacher, counselor, youth leader, or principal who will submit your Recommendation Form in the online application. Do not use your own email address. It is the applicant’s responsibility to follow-up with the individual submitting the Recommendation to see if it has been submitted. The recommendation is not a letter, it is a form to complete. Due date for the recommendation form is March 1, 2025.

4. SUBMITTING A VIDEO – DEADLINE FEBRUARY 22, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT
Prepare a short introduction video telling us who you are, where you are from, and why you are interested in becoming a NASA high school intern. This is due by February 22.
When submitting a video, remember that you are submitting a link (URL) to your video (such as on YouTube.com, youku.com, tudou.com, some other video hosting site, or your own website), not the video itself. With the newly implemented YouTube guidelines, if you are under the age of 18 you will need parental consent when posting to YouTube.
Do not secure your video with a password. Instead, we recommend that you make the video unlisted. The following descriptions apply to YouTube.com, but should be applicable to other video hosting sites. YouTube has three privacy settings: Public, Private, and Unlisted.
Public means anybody can find it and view it. DO NOT USE THIS OPTION.
Private means it can only be seen by the you, and the people you select. The video doesn’t appear in your channel or in search results. Viewers you select must have a Google account to log in and see the video, and the you must also know to whom to grant permission. If the video is private, on google drive, YouTube, Vimeo, or requires us to contact the individual, your video will not be judged. DO NOT USE THIS OPTION.
Unlisted means that anybody who has the link can view the video, but it doesn’t appear in your channel or in search results. USE THIS OPTION.
Add your video link URL to the online application.
5. SUBMITTING TRANSCRIPT/REPORT CARD: DEADLINE FEBRUARY 22, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT
Please upload an unofficial copy of your high school transcript or report card onto the form provided in the application. Remove any sensitive information such as social security identification prior to uploading.
