  • The application includes essay questions. We recommend drafting your answers in a separate document, then copying them into the application form.

  • What are your career plans, and how might SEES affect them?

STEM Experiences (Choose one option)

  • Option A: Describe important academic STEM experiences (courses, science fairs, school competitions, etc.).
  • Option B: Describe important life STEM experiences outside of school (e.g., cooking with the scientific process, caring for animals, exploring nature, video game or code development, hobby astronomy, math clubs, robotics, tinkering, or crafting).

Extracurricular Skills

  • What skills have you gained from extracurricular activities that will help you as a research team member?

STEM Opportunities

  • How did you hear about the SEES Internship Program?
  • Have you participated in similar STEM programs, or is there a lack of STEM opportunities in your area?

Scholarship Need

3. RECOMMENDATION INSTRUCTIONS

Recommendation Deadline: March 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT

No late recommendations will be accepted. No exceptions.

What You Need to Do:

  • In your online application, list the name and email address of a teacher, counselor, youth leader, or principal who will complete your Recommendation Form.
  • Do not enter your own email address.
  • It is your responsibility to follow up with your recommender to ensure the form is submitted on time.

Important Notes:

  • The recommendation is not a letter; it is a form to complete.
  • The form must be submitted by the deadline above.

4. VIDEO INTRODUCTION INSTRUCTIONS

Introduction Video Deadline: February 22, 2026 at 8:00 PM PT

Prepare a short introduction video telling us:

  • Who you are
  • Where you are from
  • Why you are interested in becoming a NASA high school intern

Submission:

  • Upload your video to a hosting site (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, Youku, Tudou, Google Drive, or your own website).
  • Submit the link (URL) in your online application. Do not upload the video file itself.

Privacy Settings:

  • If you are under 18, YouTube requires parental consent.
  • Do not use Public (visible to everyone) or Private (restricted, requires permissions) settings.
  • Set your video to Unlisted. This allows anyone with the link to view it, but it won’t appear in searches or on your channel.
  • Videos that are private, password-protected, or require us to request access cannot be judged.

5. SUBMITTING TRANSCRIPT OR REPORT CARD

Transcript/Report Card Deadline: February 22, 2026 at 8:00 PM PT

  • Upload an unofficial copy of your high school transcript or report card using the upload field provided in the application. You may use the previous semester if needed.
  • Be sure to remove any sensitive information (such as Social Security numbers) before uploading your file.
  • Official transcripts are not required.
