Geospatial Data Validation and Verification
A core capability of the 3DGL group is providing an independent data validation and quality assessment for our customers/sponsors. We define quality assessment as the process and procedures necessary to verify the reliability of the provided data and geolocation accuracy assessment is a crucial component of independent data validation. Data validation is the process of determining the degree to which a data product is an accurate representation of the real world from the perspective of its intended use. The utilization of 3D point cloud data is becoming more common for a variety of applications. Although these data are common, they do not always contain information regarding their geolocation (horizontal or vertical) uncertainties. Incorporation of geolocation uncertainties is something our group strives to achieve. The 3DGL group has developed a capability for conducting data validation of space-based assets as well as airborne and UAS collected data.
